Bar Hill Bridge Demolition

Published: 19 June 2019

The following message has been received from Highways England.

Ahead of this weekend’s demolition of the old bridge at Bar Hill, please see below the confirmed closures to allow us to safely carry out this work:

12am Saturday 22nd until Monday 24th 5am
  • A14 eastbound Swavesey Jct 28 to Bar Hill Jct 29
Diversion: Exit A14 at Godmanchester Jct 24, south on A1198 and east on A428 to re-join the A14 or M11
  • A14 westbound Girton Jct 31 loop
Diversion: Continue on A14 to A428 westbound, north on A1198 at Caxton Gibbet to re-join the A14 at Godmanchester Jct 24
  • A14 westbound Bar Hill Jct 29 between exit and entry slips
Diversion: Off A14 at Bar Hill via exit slip and re-join via entry slip. Traffic flows on the roundabout will be monitored on site by Traffic Management team
The new bridge over the A14 between Bar Hill and Longstanton will be open all weekend. Access to Lolworth, Hill Farm and the cottages, Herbies Diner and Swavesey Travelodge will remain under the usual traffic management arrangements when a closure is implemented at this location.

The confirmed closure times listed above differ slightly from the recent Bar Hill leaflet we circulated. The team’s plan is still to re-open the road Sunday night; the closure has been booked until Monday morning as contingency.
