Swavesey Bridge (news from A14 Integrated Team)

Work has progressed well on the new over bridge at Swavesey and we are hoping to have this in operation on the morning of Saturday 3rd November.

When the bridge does open we will then close off the current overbridge.

At this point, all traffic intending to travel over the A14 from Swavesey will use the new overbridge accessing it via the new traffic island constructed on Buckingway Road.

Traffic accessing the overbridge from Boxworth will gain access using a slip road from the current traffic island.

At the present time the current slip roads onto and off the A14 on both sides of the carriageway will remain in use.

The attached plan hopefully demonstrates this. The old route is shown in purple and the new road in turquoise.

Once this is all completed the old bridge will then be demolished. This is scheduled to commence on Saturday 17th November .
