Age UK Warden Info

Published: 23 August 2021

Hello, my name is Claire Greer, and I am the new Community Warden for Longstanton. I have been in post now for nearly 2 months and currently supporting a number of people within the village. I live in Fenstanton and have done so for 13 years but been local for 24 years, so I know the area and surrounding villages very well. Prior to working for Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, I had my own Pet Sitting business and looked after animals in Swavesey, Over and Longstanton for many years as well as other local villages. I have also worked in a local care home and for a local home care company too so have experience in supporting people living in residential homes as well as within the community. In my spare time I love to read, go for walks and spend time with my family.

The Community Warden Scheme is provided through Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and helps people over 60 years to remain living at home as independent and safely as possible. As a Warden I will make daily contact, Mon to Fri either by a phone call or a visit. Some of the things I can help you with are shopping, prescription collection, making phone calls on your behalf, help to complete forms, liaise with other services, arrange home safety checks etc. as well as just having a chat with you and providing a listening ear. For all new referrals to the scheme, there is a 2-week FREE trial and afterwards there is a small weekly charge for this service.

If you would like more information or to refer a neighbour, relative or friend, please do give me a call on 07816087742. If I do not answer, please leave your number and I will return you call promptly.
