Flowers

You may feel you wish to pay your respect and to mark the sad passing of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.  Though the focus will inevitably fall on London, Longstanton Parish Council, with support from partner organisations, have worked together to allow residents to come together to express your sadness and your respects.

Should you choose to, we have identified the following sites where you may lay flowers:

Longstanton Village Sign at The Dale, Longstanton

The Green - Northstowe

If you do lay flowers during the time of mourning, please note that all plastic wrapping must be removed before laying them

All flowers will be removed one week after the funeral has taken place (or once the flowers have died).  It is our intention to take all flowers away to be composed and with the compost a tree will be planted at a location within the community, agreed by the Council, in memory of His Royal Highness.

Alternatively, the Royal Family have noted that it was Prince Philip's wishes that 'Members of the public may wish to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, or one of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Patronages in memory of His Royal Highness, instead of leaving floral tributes' (Royal.uk).
